Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine sect.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
